Health plan Kaiser Permanente appears poised to continue the rapid expansion of its workforce and office footprint in Atlanta.
It is being reported that Kaiser Permanente has been touring Atlanta office towers in a search for up to 200,000 square feet of space.
“In recent weeks, the Oakland, Calif.-based company has toured Buckhead office towers including Tishman Speyer’s Three Alliance Center and Cousins Properties Inc.’s Terminus 100, according to sources familiar with the activity,” the Atlanta Business Chronicle reported.
The health insurer has 300,000 members and nearly 3,000 employees in the state.
According to Becker’s Hospital Review, Kaiser posted strong growth in Atlanta and throughout its operations in 2016. Cited as a major addition was the opening of the company’s new technology campus in Atlanta, a $20 million project that brought 900 IT jobs to the city. That preceded the opening in January of a 185,000 square foot call center in Gwinnett County. The call center brought 300 new jobs with it, with a total of 500 more projected by 2020, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Kaiser named longtime executive Jim Simpson president of its Atlanta-based operations on Feb. 24, removing the interim tag he previously held.
Kaiser reported a profit of $3.1 billion in 2016, up from $1.8 billion in 2015.
